Staff Accountant
Seeking a Staff Accountant, Full-Time (Monday - Friday) in Fort Myers, FL
Salary: $50 - $60/K Depending on experience (those that have worked in the aerospace industry are preferred. but it is not required)
The staff accountant is responsible for performing routine financial tasks within a company, including recording transactions, maintaining general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records, often reporting to a senior accountant or accounting
manager; essentially overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of a business by tracking assets, liabilities, and profits/losses to maintain compliance with accounting standards.
Key responsibilities of a staff accountant may include:
• Data entry:
Recording financial transactions into the accounting system, including sales, expenses, payroll, and other relevant data.
• Account reconciliation:
Matching bank statements to internal records to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy of accounts.
• General ledger maintenance:
Posting transactions to the general ledger and ensuring its accuracy.
• Financial statement preparation:
Compiling and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Accounts payable/receivable management:
Processing vendor invoices, managing customer payments, and reconciling outstanding balances.
• Tax preparation:
Assisting with the preparation of tax returns and maintaining tax compliance.
• Audit support:
Providing documentation and assistance to external auditors during the audit process.
• Budgeting and forecasting:
Supporting the budgeting process by providing relevant financial data and analysis.
• Internal controls:
Maintaining and adhering to internal controls to safeguard company assets. Required skills and qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP}
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
