Job Title: Material Handler
Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse, manufacturing plant, or distribution center. The role involves ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and supporting production and shipping activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Inspection: Receive, unload, and inspect materials and products from vendors or suppliers, ensuring accuracy of shipments against purchase orders and delivery receipts.
- Inventory Management: Store materials in designated locations and maintain proper inventory levels. Monitor stock and reorder materials as necessary.
- Order Fulfillment: Pick, pack, and stage materials or products for delivery or shipment to production lines or customers.
- Material Movement: Safely transport materials, tools, and products within the facility using manual or powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, material movements, and shipping documentation.
- Safety and Cleanliness: Follow safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse or storage areas.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., production, shipping/receiving) to meet deadlines and support operational needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or logistics preferred.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) safely.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and warehouse best practices.
Working Conditions:
- May require standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work in a warehouse or industrial setting with potential exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Shift work or overtime may be required depending on business needs.
