The Material Handler will operate a stand-up forklift to transport materials within a warehouse or manufacturing facility. The operator will be responsible for loading and unloading products, stocking inventory, and ensuring safe handling of goods. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a commitment to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Stand-Up Forklift: Safely and efficiently operate a stand-up forklift to move materials and products throughout the warehouse.
- Loading and Unloading: Load and unload goods from trucks, racks, and shelves using the forklift.
- Inventory Management: Assist with organizing inventory, ensuring products are stored correctly, and managing inventory counts.
- Order Fulfillment: Pick and stack products based on order requirements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and company procedures, including wearing protective equipment and performing regular forklift safety checks.
- Warehouse Organization: Maintain an organized and clean work environment, ensuring that aisles and storage areas are clear and well-maintained.
- Documentation: Record and update inventory, log equipment usage, and report any malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse staff, supervisors, and other forklift operators to ensure smooth operations and meet production goals.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on the forklift and notify supervisors of any issues or necessary repairs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in operating a stand-up forklift (required).
- Previous experience as a forklift operator or in a warehouse environment (preferred).
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Basic math and computer skills (for inventory tracking and reporting).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and operate the forklift for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, twist, and lift heavy objects as required by job tasks.
- Capability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
Working Conditions:
- Typically works indoors in a warehouse or distribution center.
- May work in cold storage environments or during shifts that require night or weekend work.
- May be exposed to noise and heavy equipment operations.
