The Sorter position is responsible for ensuring the proper placement and sorting of materials on the conveyor line. This position requires individuals to perform a variety of essential duties that contribute to the efficiency and safety of the sorting process. The Sorter will inspect materials and sort items into designated piles or containers based on specific criteria such as type, size, condition, color, or paper grade. This role also involves the removal of contaminants from paper and the surrounding area, ensuring that the sorting line remains clean and operational. In addition to sorting, the Sorter will be responsible for stacking boxes and skids, dumping boxes and totes of material, and feeding wastepaper onto the conveyor. Maintaining a clean work environment is paramount, and the Sorter will be expected to clean the conveyor and the surrounding sorting line regularly. The role requires the ability to read monitors for machine startup and to ensure that the machinery operates correctly and at a moderate speed.
