Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead the end-to-end innovation process, from ideation to product launch, for new dog food formulas, treats, and supplements.
  • Identify emerging trends in pet nutrition, ingredients, and technologies to drive innovation and differentiation in the product line.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, and Procurement teams to develop products that meet market demand, budget constraints, and quality standards.
  • Ensure new products comply with industry regulations (AAFCO, FDA) and align with company sustainability and ethical sourcing goals.
  • Conduct research on raw materials, testing different combinations of ingredients to optimize nutritional benefits and palatability for dogs.
  • Develop prototypes and manage sensory testing (both internal and with dogs), evaluating taste, texture, and aroma.
  • Monitor and improve existing product lines, enhancing formulations based on consumer feedback and industry advancements.
  • Prepare and present detailed project reports and timelines, ensuring all innovation projects are delivered on schedule.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners (vendors, suppliers, laboratories) to support the innovation process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dog food industry regulations, consumer preferences, and scientific advancements in pet nutrition.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Nutrition, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development or food innovation, ideally in the pet food industry.
  • Strong understanding of canine nutrition, ingredients, and regulatory requirements for pet food products.
  • Proven experience in launching successful food products from concept to commercialization.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for pet health and wellness with a drive for innovation.


Preferred Skills:


  • Experience with AAFCO and FDA regulations for pet food.
  • Familiarity with sustainable sourcing and clean label ingredient trends.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.


Pay Rate: $66,800-89,780
