Job Summary:

The Design engineer is responsible for job traveler development, planning, and the execution of the QMS as well as other special projects as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree and/or comparable experience.

Experience & Training

5+ years in the manufacturing industry.  Experience with ISO 9001 environment a plus.

Extensive MRP experience required.

Skills & Abilities

Excellent oral and written communication skills;  Must possess strong interpersonal skills to deal with people at all levels within the organization and outside;  Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and engineering documentation;  Strong systems and software skills - word processing, spreadsheets, computer applications;  Knowledge of general / manufacturing business management;  Knowledge of machine operation; Knowledge and use of inspection devices;     Advanced Mathematic skills;     Ability to pay close attention to detail, work under pressure and meet deadlines;  Ability to organize, prioritize and successfully multi task; Be adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment;  Strong analytical skills;  Must have a thorough understanding of quality programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain all job travelers according to customer specifications, blueprints, and internal documentation.

Job traveler development includes but not limited to determining sequence of manufacturing operations with corresponding instructions, calculating material yields, entering projected scheduled resources, and flow down of requirements to material vendors when necessary.

Responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing the quality management system as well as efforts to drive continual improvement (serving as management representative).

Develops new policies, procedures, training, and forms to increase effectiveness of the QMS and overall performance of company protocol.

Establish and implement solutions in the MRP system to ensure compliance to customer specifications and prevent the perpetuation of known non-conformances.

Ensure that site meets external requirements of customers and regulatory agencies.

Routinely works with cross function groups such as Sales, Manufacturing, Production, and Purchasing to establish and achieve business objectives.

May include labor/cost analysis to ensure that orders comply with established profit margins.

Regularly work with Quality Control to ensure customer QC Clauses can be met.

Responsible for collecting KPI data, analysis, and reporting for meetings.

Works in conjunction with various departments to issue and resolve corrective/preventive actions. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

80% sitting at desk, 20% walking/standing; Bending, lifting up to 25 lbs. rarely; Heavy contact with computers/calculators, repetitive finger/hand movement; Strenuous eye focus utilizing the computer and paperwork.
