Maintenance Mechanic - Food Manufacturing
A. PURPOSE
To execute all the necessary maintenance practices to maintain the company’s assets to achieve efficient and good running conditions.

Essential Duties
These duties directly and substantially serve to achieve the purpose of the position.

Ensure execution of Preventive Maintenance program in accordance with the company policy. During the daily routines, must implement decisions through his / her co-workers to solve mechanical and or electrical problems.

Ensures that Maintenance equipment employees work safely.

Keeps and maintains the equipment breakdown to a minimum. Addresses preventive maintenance activities to perform corrective maintenance efficiently, as well as establish or improve preventive maintenance tasks.

Must have the ability to train his/her co-worker in all technical aspects as well as safety requirements.

Elaborates and initiates the material requisition for materials that are not in the equipment manual, turning them to his/her supervisor for final authorization.
PREFERRED SKILLS

knowledge, and experience to solve all types of electrical, electronic and communication problems between packers and scales to pack snacks. (ISHIDA, TNA, YAMATO, HAYSSEN, UVA ETC.) Fanuc Robots

Must be able to troubleshoot industrial ovens and Heat exchanger for Tortilla chip, metal detectors, printers etc.

Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles gear boxes, fans conveyors, blowers, compressors, pumps, valves, furnaces, drives and all allied mechanical equipment when directed or when directly related to mechanical or electrical troubleshooting.

Possesses working knowledgeable of hydraulic, compressed air systems, steam, and all allied utensil with steam; can read mechanical complex diagrams and troubleshoot these systems.
ELECTRICAL
-
Must understand PLC components to design and retrofit existing programs as needed in Allen Bradley families, preferably.

Must be able to communicate effectively with outside technicians when it is required and reads complex electrical and electronic diagrams, troubleshoot up to 480 volts and identify individual components, uses simple shop mathematics, and possesses knowledge of local, state, and federal electrical codes.

Able to troubleshoot power distribution systems.

Must be able to design circuits by creating schematics and ability to order electrical parts for the design, installing them from MCP and completing hardware installation and wiring.

Must be knowledgeable in installing programming and troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFD).

Able to install and troubleshoot temperature controls and identify all types or thermocouples.

Must be knowledgeable and troubleshoot all types of sensors and photo switches AC/DC

Must thoroughly understand how to calibrate electronic transducer that uses Milliamps, Millivolt’s signal.

Able to diagnosis and repair electronic boards.

Must be knowledgeable with low voltage AC/DC control circuits for automatic equipment.
Possesses working knowledgeable of the following equipment:

Power tools such as drill presses, cut off saws, and portable power hand tools.

Electrical test equipment such as voltmeter, megger, ammeter.

Possesses the necessary basic personal hand tools for the trade. Must be concerned with their assigned tools and equipment, taking care of its good working conditions.

Must be able to time automated equipment drives using vendor’s manual and specification.
-
Must be able to respond to trouble calls and emergency condition as requested.

Diagnose and employ proper procedures for troubleshooting and determine when parts need replacement and when repairs are necessary.

Operates mobile lift truck and hoisting equipment in the performance of his/her work.

Assist in keeping all maintenance equipment, tools and work areas clean and tidy.

Must be knowledgeable of lubricants for all types of machines and perform necessary lubrication of production machines as directed.

Must be knowledgeable in chemical handle procedures and drum storage practices. Must have working knowledge of OSHA, FDA AND GMP requirements as they pertain to maintenance activities at the food processing facility.

Maintains spare parts inventory for plant by checking out parts from parts cage, restocking inventory for his/her assigned equipment.

Assists completed work order objectives and correlate the written status report.

Assist to do or improve preventive maintenance check list for the existing equipment or new equipment as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED
