Manufacturing Process Engineer
Objective:
Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for developing new and improving existing
manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods. Employee should be
able to design and implement new systems, process, and procedures to improve quality, establish
a cost-effective manufacturing process and develop best practices within the production process.
Responsibilities:
· Recommend / Implement changes or upgrades to work methods, equipment, or other aspects
of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources.
· Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates,
efficiency, yield, cost, and changeover.
· Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of the production process,
identify process bottlenecks and create solutions.
· Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality
standards.
· Advise and support corrective action implementations.
· Assist in the implementation of special projects from design to mass production including
prototype development, unit build, reporting and inspection methods.
· Secure and maintain smooth technical correspondence between affiliate companies and
outside organizations such as current and potential customers, part suppliers, sales representatives,
and equipment manufactures.
· Prepare documentation to support mass production, which includes ISO documents and
procedures, electrical and mechanical, production specifications and related documents
· Work closely with Quality Control, Production Control, and Sales to render assistance
when required.
· Identify complex problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to solve them.
· Tooling and fixturing design guidance and approvals.
· Work with equipment designers and manufacturing team members to develop a cost-effective
and working production process.
· Research and assist with purchasing new manufacturing technology.
· Develop innovative solutions.
Preferred Qualifications: 2+ year of experience as Manufacturing / Process Engineer
· Preferred: Understands and have experience in Electronic Manufacturing processes
· Read and understand PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) design files and technical
drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions
· Program and debug SMT (Surface Mount Technology) auto-insertion equipment
· Program and debug through-hole solder equipment such as wave solder and selective
solder machines
· Create processes for NPI (New Product Introduction)
· Provide technical assistance and guidance to other technical personnel
· Assist with the installation, debug, and validation of process equipment
· Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting problems with equipment
· Follow all safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions to supervisor
· Perform a variety of tasks as assigned
Working Conditions:
· Manufacturing Process Engineer works in a manufacturing environment and on the
production floor.
Skills and Specifications:
· Experience with manufacturing or plant engineering
· Experience with the practical application of Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma Systems
· Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating
across various levels of the organization.
· Excellent problem solving skills; excellent technical, verbal, written and presentation
skills.
· Knowledge of materials, SMT Placement machines, Wave solder, AOI machine, ICT,
mechanical assembly, process flow, Lean/Kanban, product development, and troubleshooting.
· Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment
· Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures
· Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Education and Qualifications:
· Bachelors (Masters Preferred) of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing,
Electrical, or similar) or equivalent work experience.
