Credit Specialist (sales tax and cash accounts) (temp employee OCT to FEB - Covering Medical Leave)
The Credit Specialist is responsible monitoring held orders, assisting Collections Specialist in collecting of past due balances, establishing cash accounts, issuing credits, taking credit card payments, should be a subject matter expert in Sales Tax and working in accordance with established policies, as well as following and improving all practices and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities
-Help with review of blocked orders daily, research and investigate reason customer is on hold and take action to either recommend order release or work with customer on any past due balances.
-Establish Cash Accounts and update information on new and existing customers.
-Financial statement and credit reporting analysis and interpretation of information to minimize risk.
-Monitoring, researching and correcting any problems regarding sales tax such as collecting exemption certificates or issuing credits for incorrectly billed sales tax.
-Must be a team player with effective communication and excellent customer service skills.
-Able to communicate with broad range of staff and customers, including CEO, CFO and VP.
-Issuing refund requests for approval.
-Will serve as back up for all collection activities assigned to the Collections Specialist.
-Will also serve as back up for all credit activity assigned to the Credit Analyst.
-Research and resolve all past due account balances including gathering PODs, BOLs, and other items to improve collectability.
-Knowledge of ERP software programs.
-Taking credit card payments from customers.
-Meeting weekly with credit team and/or Credit Manager and monthly with VP of Sales to go over all issues to assure that accounts receivables are within established guidelines, and following accounts closely to determine when action is needed to prevent unnecessary risks including working closely with Sales and Customer Service Team.
-Will monitor statement generation and ensure customers are contacted to correct email when there are kickbacks.
-Will assist with Lien Waivers and verifications for approval.
-BS or equivalent from accredited college or university, and five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Ability to independently plan, organize, schedule, and make sound decisions and judgments relating to assigned projects and other responsibilities. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish working relationships and to interact effectively with a wide range of people.
-Strong understanding of financial analysis, financial statements, balance sheet, income statements and cash flow.
-Must have knowledge of documents such as guarantees, security agreements, and lien processes
-Must have knowledge of ERP software programs
-Must have previous Sales Tax experience
