Job Description: Logistics Coordinator


Job Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator collaborates with a team of highly experienced sales staff and communicates with drivers to guarantee service for shipments. Provides high-level service quality and develops strong relationships with customers and carriers through excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.


Essential Duties:

• Routes and dispatches shipments by phone and computer, in an efficient and expedient manner

• Maintains pick-up and delivery times for all shipments

• Tracks the movements of drivers to shippers and receivers in accordance with established procedures, which include Syfan order number, pick-up numbers, directions, and any load specific instructions

• Takes calls from drivers to obtain location updates, ensure they are on-time, and identify any possible issues or delays

• Updates Carrier Sales and Customer Sales Reps of any delays in a timely manner

• Updates the customer with arrivals, departures, delays, etc.

• Documents all the daily calls as received stating the exact details of the load at the time of each call

• Investigates and properly documents all types of product discrepancies such as overages, shortages and damages

• Validates all load data prior to delivery and request documentation as needed

• May have to enter loads, from customer tenders and emails, into the logistics management software

• Meets individual productivity goals (ex. phone calls made, total talk time, etc.)


Experience and Skills:

• Intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, customer web sites, keyboard proficiency)

• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken

• Requires high attention to details

• Must be well organized and logical, with the ability to prioritize tasks

• Must adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures

• Self motivated personality with exceptional attendance and punctuality

• Ability to work in a high call volume environment

• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and pressured environment, communicating effectively with both colleagues and clients, while able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

• Ability to think critically, using logic and reasoning to identify problems and works towards solutions

• Ability to accept constructive criticism in a professional manner


Education Requirements:

• High school diploma / GED or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

• General understanding or knowledge of the transportation industry

• Preferred: 2-3 years of logistics/transportation experience including a general knowledge of transportation procedures and regulations preferred


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position has assigned work shifts which includes daytime business hours, afternoons, nights and weekend shift hours.


Will Train!! Training is conducted Monday - Friday, 8;00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in a classroom environment for two weeks. Pay will be $16.00 per hour during training and will then convert to $20.00 per hour once person starts on floor.
