Job Title: Packer

Job Overview:
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Packer to join our day shift team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and securely packing aluminum extrusions using a variety of materials such as bands, cardboard, stretch wrap, or shrink wrap. You will ensure all bundles meet customer specifications and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and cleanliness in the work environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Lift aluminum extrusions (up to 40 feet long and 75 pounds) from baskets to the packing conveyor.

Prepare and organize packing materials such as tape, stretch wrap, cardboard, paper, and banding.

Visually inspect products for defects including burrs, scratches, dents, and bubbles.

Assemble and secure bundles according to customer specifications, as instructed by the foreman.

Operate or assist with cut-back saws to ensure cuts are accurate and meet requirements.

Record piece counts or weights and time spent on each bundle.

Move baskets into and out of the workstation and properly dispose of scrap materials.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Assist with general housekeeping duties in the Shipping department.

Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors or management.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work 12-hour shifts involving standing, walking, lifting, and reaching.

Frequent lifting and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.

Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Must have full range of vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
PPE Requirements:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times due to exposure to:

Moving mechanical parts

Fumes and airborne particles

High temperatures

Elevated noise levels
-
PPE may include hearing protection, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing.
Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or GED required.
Skills & Competencies:
-
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

Proficient in the use of measuring tools such as tape measures and rulers.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions.

Works well independently and as part of a team.
