3Rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Mechanic Mechanic coordinates the execution of the production schedule while optimizing productivity and ensuring adherence to plant safety guidelines. This role is responsible for managing work assignments, assigning correct material to production orders, and maintaining a clean, organized work area with good housekeeping. The Technician is accountable for setting up machines to the correct process parameters, performing preventative maintenance on production equipment, and troubleshooting issues that may arise. The Technician will also perform simple maintenance on tools and production equipment while documenting more complex problems for future follow-up.

Essential Duties:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, analyze, tune, and/or improve the performance of injection molding machines with minimal supervision.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and maintain records for all equipment.
  • Work with production teams to assist with machine start-ups and provide updates to production supervisors/managers on machine availability and status.
  • Adjust processes to maintain quality standards and ensure parts stay within desired specifications.
  • Perform machine startups and shutdowns as required.
  • Conduct daily PMs as scheduled, including maintaining good housekeeping practices.
  • Meet productivity standards consistently.
  • Set up auxiliary equipment, including but not limited to mold control, chiller, water bath, dye cutters, sprue cutter, and drill.
  • Submit daily reports documenting the shift’s activities and any issues encountered.

Job Requirements:

  • Analyze and implement strategies to reduce injection machine downtime and minimize spoilage.
  • Drive resolution for any recurring machine/process problems.
  • Communicate problems and corrective actions with supervisors, maintenance teams, process technicians, quality control, and other operators.
  • Experience in injection molding is a plus but not required.
  • Strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Accurate completion of paperwork, repair orders, PM records, change logs, startup checklists, 1st piece buy-off, and scrap reports.
  • Availability for overtime when necessary.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the job.
