Job Title: Shipping Clerk
Job Summary:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in documentation, packing, labeling, and coordinating with carriers to guarantee timely delivery. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient and organized shipping operations within a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company and customer specifications

Verify and maintain records of outgoing shipments (e.g., weight, shipping costs, and product counts)

Generate shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and labels

Schedule and coordinate with carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight, etc.) for pickups and deliveries

Inspect and report any issues with packaging or shipment contents

Use shipping software or ERP systems to track and process shipments

Ensure shipments comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g., international shipping, hazardous materials)

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping area

Collaborate with warehouse, inventory, and customer service teams to resolve shipping issues

Perform basic clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and inventory checks
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Previous experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations preferred

Familiarity with shipping software (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip) and Microsoft Office

Ability to lift packages (typically up to 50 lbs) and operate warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts – certification may be required)

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
